Joust another outing

The Madwoman takes the view that you can never get too much education,
so despite the torrential rain, it was on with the anoraks and off to the
Open Air Museum again yesterday to see some medieval jousting.

Except that when we got there, the little collection of tents was pretty well deserted.    Maybe everyone was hiding inside them?
We couldn't go and find out though as there was a distinctly unwelcoming sign on the gate. Definitely not as sociable as the usual re-enactors who come along and invite you to look in their tents and watch them cooking.                                                          We did spot a cooking fire, but no sign of any sucking pig.  With no sign of any sucking peasants either we went home and got dry instead.

A bit of sunshine at last - maybe our alpine strawberries will start to ripen a bit quicker now!

Are you kidding?

What do you mean, do I want to go for a walk?
What on earth makes you think I would want to leave this warm snuggly and DRY fleece to go out for a walk in the rain and get wet?
But don't let me stop you.
Don't forget your flippers.

At last!

Well, it had to happen, sooner or later.
A sunny day at last.
Well, morning at any rate - it's raining again now.
But we had a good morning!
Running like the wind!

Taking a breather

Further education

We furthered our education at the Open Air Museum again today:
Sharpe's Rifles this time.
The Madwoman kept us away from them while they were doing the noisy stuff with the guns. We're not bothered about bangs and fireworks and stuff, but the Madwoman said she'd like to keep it that way, so we humoured her.
Even at a distance it all looked very impressive. The trumpeter sounded very professional too and stirred our blood. We managed to contain our inner dogs of war and didn't join in with a group howl, although it was tempting.
Angel did find a nice muddy patch though, and took full advantage of the Madwoman's distraction to get down and dirty wippitt-style.
Her raincoat (yes, it's still pouring with rain here) is now brown and she has matching muddy eyebrows and ears too.

The Madwoman says we should add a link to the Open Air Museum in case you want to visit too. Sharpe's Rifles are there all weekend, and there's other stuff happening on other weekends.
So here it is:

Where's the summer?

Dressed for wet weather!
There's been precious little summer weather lately.
It's been so wet that on some days we've even had to put our raincoats on.
If this keeps up we'll need flippers and snorkels too.
Hope all you wippitts that don't live at the top of a hill like we do
are coping with all this weather we're having.
