A trip to Narnia

Alright, so we're not really at Narnia - it's one of the lamp posts at Chiltern Open Air Museum, but it seemed an appropriate setting to choose when posing with our visitor. Yes, we had a guest last week - none other than famous writer Susan Price. We liked her (even though she brought no turkey) while the Madwoman just gibbered and burbled with over-excitement. That will no doubt ensure that our new bestie won't want to visit us again. Well, that and the hard bed. We suppose we could have offered to share our giant bean bag, but in view of the lack of roast turkey, decided that a line needed to be drawn somewhere ...
Two attempts and she still messed up.
One of these days we will have to try and teach the Madwoman
how to compose a photo properly.

A new animal alphabet

No, there is nothing wrong with your eyes, we didn't blog last weekend.
We had a lie-in instead.
Followed by a lazy Sunday.
It was very nice, thank you, apart from the lack of roast turkey.
Liver cake.
Before the Madwoman cut it up into teeny weeny miserly little pieces and then
put most of it into the freezer. Pfffftttt.
The Madwoman did buy a pound of liver and went into a frenzy of liver cake making: it is very nice, but nevertheless it is not roast turkey.

There was a Complaint about not being able to actually see the star of the letter M in our regular animal alphabet. (Not our fault - blame the incompetent photographer. Who will remain Nameless.) So we have gone to great trouble and arranged to have another M. Here it is:

M
is for

MUMBO JUMBO*

*Which is just like an ordinary elephant only
making less sense.

Animal alphabet - M

M
is for

MOLE*

*Look, just because you can't see it, doesn't
mean it isn't there.
Now you see it, now you don't.
And naturally, because the Madwoman is incompetent with a
camera, she has caught the 'now you don't' moment.

Animal alphabet - L

L
is for

LAMB*

* we were going to invite a
lemming, but couldn't face
the tasteless jokes about cliffs.
Although no doubt there will now be a
few about mint sauce instead.
(Personally we prefer redcurrant)

Animal alphabet - K

is for

KOALA

Sunday 5 April 2015

You can run ...

... but you can't hide.
Well, you can try, but us eagle-eyed wippitties will find you eventually.
We were promised an Easter Bunny hunt at
the Chiltern Open Air Museum this weekend.
Said so, all official, on the noticeboard.

First we had to decide which direction to set off in

Welly wanging was in full ... well, wang ... on the village green.
The Madwoman was (surprise surprise) useless at it.
No sign of the Easter bunny either.

We moved on to the Toll House where we
found hot cross buns being toasted.
No sign of Easter bunnies here.
Or offers to share the buns, so we didn't linger long.

And then we spotted it!

The Madwoman had a go at doing a close up of it.
Funny, we'd expected it to be bigger and scarier than this.
