A change of plans - Sofa time!

The Madwoman is supposed to be finishing off some papier mache Keepsakes houndies ready for sale next week to help raise money for Kim's Home for Elderly/Abused Dogs, Greyhound Gap and Millie the Whippet's cancer treatment. Unfortunately she was a little hasty opening a tin can this morning and sliced her finger open...

Archie still has a bad back and had two visits to the vet last week with it. Our lovely McTimoney auntie Caroline Hicks is coming again to do some more tweaky stuff to it on Monday.

So it looks like we'll be having a sofa weekend.

Fortunately the post brought us a copy of our auntie Susan-from-up-North's latest book, The Drover's Dogs. It has 'dogs' in the title, so that sounds promising. But while we are reclining on the sofa with the Madwoman reading aloud to us, we shall be listening hard to see how many wippitts are in it ...

Another lazy weekend

We are having another lazy weekend ... we had a visitation from our new Aunty Sue and we had of course, to make sure she felt welcomed and that the Madwoman's hostessing skills were up to scratch. She is a born sloth, so needs constant vigilance ....

We like our Aunty Sue, although we have no idea why considering she never brings roast turkey or gravy bones. Here Angel is giving her one-to-one advanced sofa-snuggling tuition. She's a quick learner, and mastered the art of sucking-up-to-wippitts in no time at all.

A trip to Narnia

Alright, so we're not really at Narnia - it's one of the lamp posts at Chiltern Open Air Museum, but it seemed an appropriate setting to choose when posing with our visitor. Yes, we had a guest last week - none other than famous writer Susan Price. We liked her (even though she brought no turkey) while the Madwoman just gibbered and burbled with over-excitement. That will no doubt ensure that our new bestie won't want to visit us again. Well, that and the hard bed. We suppose we could have offered to share our giant bean bag, but in view of the lack of roast turkey, decided that a line needed to be drawn somewhere ...
Two attempts and she still messed up.
One of these days we will have to try and teach the Madwoman
how to compose a photo properly.

A visitation

Yesterday we had a visitation from some authors* that the Madwoman knows - even though she'd never actually met them in the flesh before. We have no idea why. Maybe they thought she needed a bit of discouraging from writing stuff and then inflicting it on others. That would of course be a good thing, as it would free up the computer for us to spend more time sharing our musings.
Anyway, she was quite ridiculously excited about it for days and days beforehand. Angel was even forced to have a bath after she anointed herself in something deliciously stinky on Friday, so we feared the worst about them. However they turned out to be quite civilised even though they failed to bring us any roast turkey. (Or any of the venison, duck or lamb they had been tucking into at lunchtime. We weren't fussed about missing out on a slice the Madwoman's spinach pie though - although it would have been nice to have been asked.)
We would have posted a picture of them, but the Madwoman was so overcome with excitement and getting them to sign books that she forgot. Not that we should be surprised any more by the incompetence. Today that incompetence is being demonstrated by a total lack of ability to tell the time.
When we wake her up early we normally get told to go back to sleep - but this morning we were rudely awakened an hour early.
NOT quarter past six, but quarter past five.
Someone has messed with the hands, but we know better.

So now we are going to catch up on a few zeds.
We think we might be able to persuade the Madwoman to join us for a
lunchtime nap. And here's the proof that it's good for you to snooze with wippitts. It's in the paper so it must be true.
