Gourmet night

Every now and then the Madwoman buys us some special gourmet food. It's made by Lily's Kitchen and is rather yummy. This week we're having the Wild Campfire Stew which has venison, pheasant and salmon in it.
Plus organic potatoes and butternut squash, green beans, apples and herbs such as rosehips, golden rod, marigold, celery seed and Angel's favourite, cleavers. She always searches out cleavers to munch on out on walks ...

This is Archie getting a bit impatient because the Madwoman is faffing around with the camera instead of getting on with dishing up dinner.

At last! Dinner is served!
Although the Madwoman hasn't yet quite grasped the concept of fine dining.
Where are the porcelain plates and the candelabra to lend a bit more ambience?

Tie a yellow ribbon ...

The Madwoman appears to be getting ready for May Day.
When we went to Tilley Farm recently our DogGodmother Sarah Fisher presented us with a length of special Yellow Dog Project ribbon to add to the frayed strands
already attached to our leads.
We feel that maybe the Madwoman has gone a little overboard with it ... we now have more bits of yellow ribbon attached than a May Pole. Maybe we should try and get into the spirit of the thing and try skipping and dancing around her legs next time we go out ...

If you want to find out what all the yellow ribbons are really for, visit:

Wippitt o'clock

We were going to tell you all about Sharpe's Rifles at the Chiltern Open Air Museum this weekend, but although the Madwoman actually remembered to take the camera along, when she tried to use it, the batteries were flat ...
the incompetence we have to put up with defies belief.
Shame, because the weather has been sunny and perfect for picture-taking.
And also for sunbathing.
The Madwoman says she can tell what time of day it is
by checking on where we have positioned ourselves in order to
best soak up the rays ...

Here is Archie, having taken over the typing chair at the desk, while
Angel stretches out on the top of the crates next to it.
Later on we'll move round, following the sun until
we end up by the French windows at the back.

Look!
She's managed to cut off the tip of Angel's nose!
Honestly, as we said, the Madwoman's total ineptitude with a camera
really does know no bounds!

Frog parents

The Madwoman has become a Frogmother again!
The frogs have started to spawn in the front garden pond.
She's quite pleased about this as lots of spawn was laid in the mini pond
on the allotment and then it snowed and froze and turned into crunchy stuff ...
Of course they all vanished when she got the camera out, except for this one ...

Our job is to keep an eye out for cats:
we just spotted one fishing around in the pond with a paw.
The Madwoman gets really cross as they catch the frogs and then leave them in dismembered pieces, sometimes still alive.
So we tell the Madwoman when there's one out there,
and if our barking doesn't scare it off,
then the Madwoman and her super-powerful water pistol does.
Never mess with the Madwoman's frogs ...

We go visiting ...

We went to visit The Madwoman's horse yesterday. We also caught up with our DogGodmother, Sarah Fisher. The Madwoman insisted on pinning her in a corner where she couldn't escape until she'd had her picture taken with us.

Okay, we're bored now. Can we go?

So if Sarah is our Dog-Godmother, does that mean that Tony Head is The Godfather?

Sleuthing

We came across a murder today. Yes, we know we have feathers in our mouths, but it wasn't us, they got there while we were investigating the crime scene.
After close examination of the crime scene, and taking into account all the evidence, we can now reveal the full story ... The victim was Mrs Pigeon, in the paddock, with teeth, by Mr Fox!

Exploring

Out walking on a lovely sunny Spring day ...
And this afternoon we plan on doing a little sunbathing in the first proper sun to come through the French windows since last year ...

Easter parade

The Chiltern Open Air Museum is officially open again this weekend. Too much to hope that the Madwoman would take us on an Easter Egg Hunt: a village of tents has sprung up on the village green so it looks like we are instead to receive another lesson in History - otherwise known as Yet More Ways to Die Horribly ...
The American Civil War has arrived in sunny Bucks, and it seems that you are never too old to get signed up for wars ...

... or too young either. We learned that the age range in the two armies went from 8 years to 80.
We received admiring glances from some parading soldiers ...

Would we like to sign up?
Not really, no thanks ...

That's it, off you go lads. Try not to be too disappointed.
This is more our sort of thing - an unattended cooking pot! Unfortunately we forgot to bring along our oven gloves. Foiled again.

A bit parky

We didn't want you to think that just because we prefer
to stay warm and dry that we are wussies.
So we thought we'd show you some pictures of us being intrepid
and freezing our paws off in the snow.

Here we are, checking to make sure that the voles
are all tucked up nice and warm in their burrows.
We are very considerate like that.

And here is Angel, keeping warm wippitt-style.
Zooooooooooooooom ....

Right. Enough of that.
We're off home now for a foot spa.

New toys please

It's been ages since the Madwoman bought us any new toys.
So we've had to improvise with her slipper boot thingys.

They don't squeak, but they are furry and when Archie
runs round the house with one clamped between his jaws,
the Madwoman even joins into the spirit of the thing and chases round after us.
